Good news people!

Satun Province has been approved by UNESCO as the first Global Geopark in Thailand. It covers four districts; the Thungwa, La-Ngu, Manang, and part of Mueang Satun which includes two national parks and one wildlife sanctuary.

Satun Province is known to be “a peaceful place with renowned natural beauty” because of its geological and cultural heritage plus the bond between the people and the land. The province is rich in limestone mountain ranges, abundance of fossils, and network of beautiful islands. They have several cultures and religious groups as well which live together in the province with harmony and peace.

Now that Satun has been declared as a UNESCO Global Geopark, expect that the environment and landscape of the province will be much well-managed with complete protection, education, and sustainable development that will enhance tourism making the province more appreciated, understandable and highly respected.
